The mission of the South Schenectady Fire Department/Rotterdam District #6 is to provide superior service to the residents of Rotterdam Fire District #6, Rotterdam, New York in an effort to protect their lives, property and environment. The members of our department accomplish this mission through fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, emergency response and non-emergency response. We operate out of a station located at 6 Old Mariaville Road, Schenectady, NY.

The South Schenectady Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization. With over 80 members, we instill our members with a strong desire to continue the tradition of providing efficient Fire and Emergency services to those who reside or visit within the boundaries of the Town of Rotterdam.

We take pride in knowing that when called upon we have the equipment, knowledge and experience one would expect of a modern fire department. If you find yourself in a "moment of need," the members of The South Schenectady Fire Department will be there to help.
