A toolbox on wheels, Rescue 1640 is a 2002 KME Heavy Rescue. Carrying a crew of 8 (driver, officer, and 6 firefighters), it can be used to deliver a lot of manpower to any fire scene. It is equipped with HURST spreaders (The Jaws of Life), cutters, and rams for extricating victims from auto accidents. A 20-foot halogen light tower is capable of lighting up a football field! For extended operations, R-1640 carries 24 spare air bottles and a filling station.
