SOUTH SCHENECTADY FIRE DEPARTMENT MASK CONFIDENCE COURSE

Dedicated to Mike Denny, an active firefighter and past Chief who passed away in 2020, the SSFD Mask Confidence Course is designed to test our interior firefighters’ abilities to remain calm in the face of unexpected obstacles and problem-solve on the fly. Eight props can be moved into any configuration, with each prop capable of simulating multiple scenarios. Props include the “Tunnel of Love”, the “Box of Many Doors”, the “U-Turn” or “Top Drop/Bottom’s Up”, Peak Floor and Rafter Crawl, Tilt Floor and Entanglement, the “Serpentine”, the Drop Floor Simulator/Breach Wall Simulator, and a Firehouse Innovations steel Forcible Entry Door simulator.
